Jean. 21. Pharmacist.
Servant of Christ. His Princess. His Beloved. My worth is found in Christ alone.
You’ve been told to guard your heart so closely that you don’t even know how to tear down the walls surrounding it. Guarding your heart does not mean mummifying it in an enclosed tomb. Your heart needs just as much exercise as your body. Love constantly. Leave notes of encouragement for your siblings. Mail letters to friends. Go on walks with your mother. Help your dad fix stuff around the house. Love consistently. Learn how to handle conflict. Learn how to say no (without a smile). Learn how to love every little inch of your soul. Learn how to feel heartbreak with another person. Love, love, love. Do not guard your heart so much it is never used.
Christ says, ‘Give me All. I don’t want so much of your time and so much of your money and so much of your work: I want you. I have not come to torture your natural self, but to kill it. No half-measures are any good. I don’t want to cut off a branch here and a branch there, I want to have the whole tree down. I don’t want to drill the tooth, or crown it, or stop it, but to have it out. Hand over the whole natural self, all the desires which you think innocent as well as the ones you think wicked—the whole outfit. I will give you a new self instead. In fact, I will give you Myself: My own shall become yours.’
