When the enemy attacks, God reacts. He knows when you’ve gotten bad news. He knows when you’re struggling in your finances. He knows when you’re being mistreated. You may not see anything happening, but you can be assured that God is not only aware, He is at work. He already has the solution. He will not only bring you out, He will bring you out better off than you were before!

How to Forgive by Joyce Meyer
Would you like to become more successful at forgiving others? There are practical steps that must be taken. One time I asked the Lord why so many people want to forgive but aren’t successful doing it. And He said, “Because they aren’t obeying what I tell them to do in My Word.” As I searched the Word, I found the following instructions:
1. Decide – You will never forgive if you wait until you feel like it. Choose to obey God and steadfastly resist the devil in his attempts to poison you with bitter thoughts. Make a quality decision to forgive, and God will heal your wounded emotions in due time (see Matthew 6:12-14).
2. Depend – You cannot forgive without the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s too hard to do on your own. If you are truly willing, God will enable you, but you must humble yourself and cry out to Him for help. In John 20:22-23 Jesus breathed on the disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit!” His next instruction was about forgiving people. Ask God to breathe the Holy Spirit on you so you can forgive those who’ve hurt you.
3. Obey – The Word tells us several things we’re to do concerning forgiving our enemies:
a. Pray for your enemies and those who abuse and misuse you. Pray for their happiness and welfare (see Luke 6:27-28). As you pray, God can give them revelation that will bring them out of deception. They may not even be aware they hurt you, or maybe they’re aware but are so self-centered that they don’t care. Either way, they need revelation.
b. …Bless and do not curse them (Romans 12:14). In the Greek to bless means “to speak well of” and to curse means “to speak evil of.” You can’t walk in forgiveness and be a gossip. You must stop repeating the offense. You can’t get over it if you continue to talk about it. Proverbs 17:9 says that he who covers an offense seeks love.

“Yes, please!”

It was my first full day in Colorado. So far I had met James’ parents, met a few of his coworkers as he showed me around his workplace, saw Pikes Peak on a clear sunny morning, got to see where James grew up and went to school, and walked around the Garden of the Gods.

Just as I thought that the day was winding down, James suggested that we go for a hike. I was interested, but he was worried that I wouldn’t be used to the elevation yet, so he thought that a short hike might be best. We stopped by his apartment to get some water, a lantern for when it got dark, and a thermos full of coffee. When we arrived at the trailhead, it was just about dusk.

We laughed and talked as we made the short trek to the top. The views were spectacular, we were surrounded by mountains and trees, and the trail was so pretty! Once we reached the top, James led me to the edge of a cliff where we could see the entire city. As the sun finished setting, specks of light began appearing across the horizon. I thought this was it for the night. We shared the coffee we brought, and James turned on the lantern for some extra light.

About fifteen minutes after reaching the top, a tall man appeared out of the trees. It startled me at first because it was dark; I didn’t expect to see anyone on the trail at this time.

“Hi, guys,” the man said.

“Hey, man,” James replied.

“I didn’t think I’d see anyone up here at this time. I hope you don’t mind. I just, I love this view during this hour. It’s perfect for photos.” He pulled out his camera.

“Oh, that’s fine, man.”

“Cool. Thanks. I love this spot. Great pictures.”

“Yeah, the view is great.”

I felt that the exchange was a bit awkward, but maybe we threw the guy off and he really didn’t expect to see people up here.

Then all of a sudden, the tall guy seemed to recognize James.

“Jim, is that you?”

“Oh! Hey, Dan! How’s it going?”

“Oh, it’s great. I didn’t realize it was you at first.”

They both laughed and James made a joke about knowing everyone in Colorado Springs. I looked over at the wide expanse of city below us and briefly considered how that was highly unlikely, but it was just a passing thought.

“Hey, while you guys are here, can I get a couple shots of the city with you guys in the foreground? I think I could get some neat pictures. Is that okay?” Dan started climbing down onto the steep cliff edge behind us.

“Yeah, that’s okay man. Go for it. Just tell us what to do,” James replied.

“Thanks! You’re fine where you are.”

“Tumblr is going to love these,” I joked. We laughed. Little did I know! Dan kept snapping pictures as James and I looked over the city.

After a few more minutes James turns to me and says, “Well, since we’re here, I have a question I’d like to ask you.”

Dan camera starts going off like crazy and that’s when I realized what was going on.

“No way,” I said.

James got down onto one knee and I was already smiling from ear to ear, “Will you run away with me?”

He could hardly get the entire question out before I exclaimed “Yes, please!”

I kissed him. Dan congratulated us as he kept taking pictures.

Then James held out the box with the ring in it, “So …this is for you.”

“Thanks, but I think you’re supposed to put it in my finger,” I said.

“Oh, yeah. I forgot.” We laughed as he put the ring on my finger.

It was so beautiful. I didn’t think a piece of jewelry could mean so much to me. James was so thoughtful about it—he chose a ring with a conflict-free diamond that was mined in Canada so I’ll always have a piece of home with me wherever I go.

Dan took a few more pictures of us and congratulated us one more time. It was all just so perfect and unexpected. I couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful engagement. It was one of the best nights of my life and I am so excited to say that I am officially going to marry my best friend!

It’s always so bizarre to think that James is the boy from Tumblr that I started talking to and following back in 2010. Despite having only been with each other in person on three occasions, our relationship is stronger than most of my “real-life” relationships. He is literally the most perfect man for me and the Lord has blessed me so much through him. I love the way that our relationship has unfolded, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Distance has challenged us to know each other in ways that probably would never have come into fruition if we had originally met in person. I truly believe that this union is the work of God Himself, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life serving the Lord with the man of my dreams. :)

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV). We all have times when our plans don’t work out. We get delayed, interrupted, and inconvenienced. It’s easy to get frustrated and fight against everything that doesn’t go our way. But I’ve learned that every interruption is not bad. Every closed door doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. Every delay doesn’t mean you’re not where you’re supposed to be. There is something I call a divine interruption where God, on purpose, will delay us to protect us from an accident. On purpose, He will close a door because it’s not His best. Sometimes, God will allow us to be inconvenienced so we can help someone else in need. We have to be willing to press through difficulty so we can be at the right place at the right time.
The next time you’re interrupted, delayed, or inconvenienced, don’t start thinking, “This is a pain. This is getting me off schedule.” No, get a new perspective. Look for what God wants to do because it could be divine interruption or divine protection. Trust Him today because He is directing your steps.

“So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit” (Galatians 6:9, the Message)
God has put dreams and desires in every person’s heart. We all have goals we want to accomplish and situations we are believing will be turned around. Sometimes it seems to take longer than we thought. Sometimes things don’t work out the way we planned, and it’s easy to lose enthusiasm. Negative thoughts come to us that say, “It’s never going to change.” “You’re never going to get well.” “You’re never going to get out of debt.” If we’re not careful, we’ll get discouraged and end up just settling where we are. Many times, people miss out on God’s best simply because they give up too soon. They don’t realize how close they are to their victory.
Friend, don’t let that be you today! Don’t give up just because things seem hard. You are closer than you think! You’ve invested so much and you never know, just another few more days of believing, another few weeks of doing the right thing, another few months of staying in faith, and you could see that situation turn around. Remember, God is on your side! Keep standing and keep believing because you are closer than you think to fulfilling every desire He’s placed inside of you!
A Prayer for Today
“Father God, today I come to You again, believing that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. Give me Your strength to keep moving forward into the place of victory You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
